No matter how strange the title of today's article may sound, it really is. Strong, at first glance, tires that can travel more than one thousand kilometers with a car under load can be hopelessly damaged by a high-pressure car wash in just five seconds.
Scientists from the DEKRA laboratory came to such an unexpected conclusion. According to them, the impact of a sharp jet of water on one point of the tire, at a distance of 4-5 centimeters, will lead to its inevitable damage. Moreover, in order to make a whole tire, an unusable piece of rubber, only five seconds are enough! Such a destructive effect on your wheel is due to the high hydraulic pressure on its surface and, as a result, a violation of the uniformity of the wheel structure. This leads to the appearance of so-called "bumps" on the wheel. A tire that has been damaged in this way can burst right while driving and therefore must be replaced immediately.
Another sign of tire damage is the shadow areas that appear on the wheel after washing.
According to the same scientists from DEKRA, such tires are no longer repairable. Thus, the wheel that cost you, on average, 100-150 dollars, turns into a flower bed. It is necessary to strictly adhere to a certain set of rules when using a high-pressure cleaner when washing tires: - the distance from the end of the gun to the surface of the tire should be at least twenty centimeters; - it is necessary to use a nozzle with the widest spray pattern, usually from twenty to forty degrees;
- in no case should you hold the jet in one place for longer than 2-3 seconds, no matter how dirty it is.
